Strine Mourned by All Well Known Citizen Called by Death, After Several Years of Failing Health Edward E. Strine died at his home in Brooklyn, Monday, February 2nd, 1925. He had been confined to the home with pneumonia for about a week and death came as a relief to great suffering. He had been a patient sufferer ever since the flu epidemic about seven years ago, which left his system in a very depleted condition. He was always looking on the bright side of life and took his misfortune without a complaint. Even those near and dear to him did not know his condition of health from his lips. His ideals were always high and he tried his best to put them into practice. He was an excellent citizen and a fine neighbor. He was born near Geneseo, Ill., December 28, 1868, coming to Iowa when about 12 years of age. Nearly all of his life was spent in Brooklyn and its vicinity. When a boy, he united with the Presbyterian Church in Illinois. On March 3rd, 1897, he was united in marriage to Lillie B. Gwinn. To this union was born one daughter, Mozelle, now Mrs. Russell Ormiston. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Mozelle and Russell Ormiston, and granddaughter, Jean, Etta Thompson, brothers Will and Avery, and sister Addie of Jamesport, Mo., and brother John of Newton, Iowa. The funeral services were held at the home in Brooklyn Wednesday afternoon, February 4th, 1925, conducted by the Rev. E. W. F. Holler, with Rev. W. J. Fowler assisting. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Pallbearers for the funeral were Herbert Brannian, O. E. McGahey, O. E. Coon, A. W. Scott and H. T. and J. A. Lang. Source Poweshiek Obituaries
