Born August 29, 1923, in Stanly County, NC, he was the son of the late Daniel Luther Hatley and the late Lillie Mae Lowder Hatley. He was employed by Murrell's Pharmacy and later by Wiscassett Mills in Albemarle. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of Main Street UMC. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Rimer Hatley; son, Steve Hatley and wife Tish of Salisbury, NC and daughters Kathy Hatley of Albemarle and Jan Salesky and husband Paul of Sinking Spring, PA.; and grandchildren, Matt Hatley, Jodi Brown and husband Jason and Alex Salesky. Memorials may be made to Main Street UMC General Fund, 1100 W. Main Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the family.
