Funeral services will be held July 30, 2015 at Gering Zion Church. Burial will be at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Edward was born January 28, 1923, on a farm north of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to David and Marie (Steinmark) Wiedeman. When he was just a toddler his parents bought the farm just west of Gering. Edward was born January 28, 1923, on a farm north of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to David and Marie (Steinmark) Wiedeman. When he was just a toddler his parents bought the farm just west of Gering. He attended Gering Public Schools until the tenth grade, and then stayed home to help his father farm. He married Betty Jane Schmidt on December 16, 1945 at Gering Zion Church. They lived on the Wiedeman home place for six years. In 1952, they moved to their farm in Mitchell Valley where they rebuilt the feedlot. He fed cattle and farmed for over 60 years. He was the owner/operator of Coldfoot Cattle Company incorporated in 1986. Although Ed and Betty moved into the city of Gering in 1994, he continued farming until his early eighties when he rented out his farms. In his earlier years, he was a school board member of Trail School, a board member of Gering Zion Church, and was also elected to the Mitchell Irrigation District Board. Ed will be remembered as one of the hardest working farmers in the Valley. His farms and his families were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by parents David and Marie Wiedeman, sister Alvina Held, brother Herman, sister Frieda (age 3), 2 infant brothers and granddaughter Meagan Wiedeman.
