Description	:	Husband of Grace Leslie Hardesty Utterback. Obituary: Edward Emerson Utterback, son of Josiah and Frances Utterback, was born Oct. 10, 1865, near Lancaster, and died Sept. 27, 1920, at his home in Sigourney, aged 54 years. He grew to manhood and had life long residence in this community, where he has innumerable friends. For many years he has been increasingly afflicted with a creeping paralysis. Obituary: Edward Emerson Utterback, son of Josiah and Frances Utterback, was born Oct. 10, 1865, near Lancaster, and died Sept. 27, 1920, at his home in Sigourney, aged 54 years. He grew to manhood and had life long residence in this community, where he has innumerable friends. For many years he has been increasingly afflicted with a creeping paralysis. His spirit endured these physical trials without wavering and he remained buoyant and cheerful through it all. Of his immediate family he is survived two sons, Walter and Ward, and by the wife and mother, who was Miss Gracie Hardesty before her marriage to the deceased on Dec. 22, 1897. Mr. Utterback's aged mother also survives him. She is living at Pasadena, Calif., where two of the living sisters, Mrs. Edith Childs, who was a twin of the deceased, and Mrs. W.T. Hauser, also reside. The home of the other sister, Mrs. C.H. Boland is at Webster. The only living brother, Adna Utterback, lives at Hedrick. One brother Gilbert, and two sisters, Mrs. Josie Copping and Mrs. Addie Armstrong have gone on before. Brief funeral services were held from the home, Wednesday, Sept. 29, by Rev. R.B. Hyten, pastor of the Sigourney Christian church. Burial at West Cemetery.
