He married Minnie Margaret Deakyne on August 11th, 1924 and had two girls, Eleanor and Jean Terry of Leesburg. He was a carpenter but began working the milk route as a driver. He also worked at a grain mill in town as he was said to have been the strongest man in Leesburg due to the amt of grain bags he could carry at once. He enjoyed working in his garden with Minnie Margaret and telling great stories of growing up in the large home his grandfather Thomas Jefferson Terry built out past the Quaker Meeting House in Fairfield Township, a short walk from Leesburg. Their garden every year was Silver Queen corn, potatoes, cucumbers, onions, radish, turnips, bell peppers, green beans, peas, horseradish, rhubarb, gooseberries and cabbage. I (a granddaughter) would be given a Maxwell House coffee can with a little gasoline in the bottom and would pull the "potato bugs" off the leaves in the early evenings alongside him. He loved going on a hike in the fall along Lees Creek to scout out his secretly known wild persimmon tree plus pawpaw tree in late summer. When the black walnut trees were ready, he would gather them and lay them to dry over a screen up in the rafters in the barn behind the house on W. Main St. near State Rt. 62 as Lees Creek was just behind the house. He was never without his hat, a felt Fedor for which he never minded if borrowed to play a hobo for Halloween. He passed peacefully after Minnie got him up to use the bathroom. She got him back into bed and he passed at 3 am, Saturday, of terminal bladder cancer but he was never told and that was a good thing. He was always happy smoking his pipe and listening to the Cincinnati Reds game. He used to drive an old '57 red Ford pickup truck and was very gentle and never complained, a genuinely sweet and kind man. He loved something called "milk toast" which was buttered toast with warm milk poured over it. That was his comfort food. Grandma called him "Pappy".
