Travers was born September 18, 1927 at Genoa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Travers. He attended Fullerton and Nance County public schools. For several years he farmed north of Central City before moving into town where he was employed at a service station. He drove a tank wagon, servicing area farmers with gas and oil. He was known by a multitude as a quiet, unassuming man, a conscientious worker and kind and thoughtful to those around him, his family and friends. On May 25, 1969 he married the former Nellie Zehr at Central City. Ed was a member of the First Church of Christ at Palmer. Survivors include his widow; three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Elsie) Brunken of Columbus, Mrs. G. L. (Dorothy) Smith of Napa, Idaho, and Jean Travers of Lincoln, and one brother, John of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
