Description	:	Edward Fischer, son of John and Caroline (Straub) Fischer was born May 12, 1915, west of Eureka in Campbell County, SD. When he was three years old, his family moved to a farm four miles north of Eureka. He attended country school and graduated from Eureka Public High School with the Class of 1933. Ed worked at various jobs. He was united in marriage to Mary Flemmer on October 3, 1935 in the Church of God Seventh Day at Eureka. They lived with his parents for 11 years. They then built a farm of... Read More	Edward Fischer, son of John and Caroline (Straub) Fischer was born May 12, 1915, west of Eureka in Campbell County, SD. When he was three years old, his family moved to a farm four miles north of Eureka. He attended country school and graduated from Eureka Public High School with the Class of 1933. Ed worked at various jobs. He was united in marriage to Mary Flemmer on October 3, 1935 in the Church of God Seventh Day at Eureka. They lived with his parents for 11 years. They then built a farm of their own across the road from his parents, where they raised small grains and livestock. They retired from farming in 2002. He entered Avera Eureka Health Care Center on June 22, 2005. He died March 2, 2007 at Avera Eureka Health Care Center. He was a member of Church of God Seventh Day and a past member of Eureka Rural Fire Department, Hospital Board and Eureka Public School Board. He had been very active in the community. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Eureka and two brothers, Albert Fischer of Aberdeen and at the time of Ed's death, Arthur (Hulda) Fischer of Eureka. His parents, three brothers, Fred, Alvin and Alfred, one infant brother and two sisters, Maggie Kiesz and Martha Schweigert preceded him in death. Funeral service will be Friday, April 20, 2007 at Carlsen Funeral Home at Eureka. Mr. Will McGill will officiate. Burial will in the Church of God Seventh Day Cemetery, rural Eureka. The organist will be Kay Fischer, the eulogist will be Jim Fischer and there will be special music by his nieces. Carlsen Funeral Home of Eureka has been entrusted with arrangements.
