Description	:	Edward Franklin Conley, a businessman and resident of West Point for over twenty years died at 6:45 Friday evening, March 23, at his home in the city. Although Mr. Conley had been ill several weeks he was thought to be improving and his death was sudden, occurring shortly after he had eaten supper that evening. Although Mr. Conley had been ill several weeks he was thought to be improving and his death was sudden, occurring shortly after he had eaten supper that evening. Edward Franklin Conley was born at Millville, Iowa on October 6, 1873 and passed away at this home in West Point, Nebraska on March 23, 1934, having attained the age of 60 years, 5 months and 17 days. While still very young he came to Norfolk, Nebraska with his parents. After his father's death he made his home with his half-brother, Mr. George Williams at Norfolk. When he was about 14 years old, he went west to Wyoming, where he worked as a cowboy on the Sheen Brothers ranch for a number of years. Later he spent some time in South Dakota. On July 29, 1900 he was united in marriage to Miss Cora B. Grover at Buffalo, South Dakota. This union was blessed with one son, Donald E. Following their marriage they established their home at Wayne, Nebraska for a time and later moved to Norfolk, Nebraska where he was employed on the police force for a time. For several years he operated a feed store in Norfolk. In about 1908 he began managing a produce station at Snyder, Nebraska and several years later at Stanton. In 1912 he moved to West Point to manage the Fairmont Creamery Produce station, which he continued to do for almost 22 years, until the time of his death. Mr. Conley served one term as street commissioner while a resident at Norfolk, and one term as city councilman at West Point. He was an active member of the A.O.U.W., serving in many official capacities; he was also a member of the Degree of Honor, of which he was secretary for eight years. While living at Norfolk, he was converted and united with the Baptist church. He enjoyed attending church services wherever he lived. His church home in West Point was the Evangelical church, of which he was member at the time of his decease. In later years, he took great delight and satisfaction in taking his only grandson to Sunday school, thereby setting an example that will never be forgotten. His beloved wife, Mrs. Cora B. Conley, one son Donald E. and one grandson, Dwight D., two half-sisters, Mrs. Frank Deuel of Norfolk, and Mrs. Belle Egbert of Moreland, Oklahoma, and many friends mourn his sudden passing. His parents, 3 half-brothers and 2 half-sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon from the Conley Mortuary and at 2:30 at the Evangelical church, Rev. O.W. Mazke officiating. Interment was made at Mt. Hope cemetery. Out of town people attending the funeral rites were Mrs. Frank Deuel, Vernon, Raymond and Frank Deuel Jr., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reise, their daughter and husband of Wayne, Robert English of Fremont, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Phillip Wickstrom and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Alexander of Oakland, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Oaks of Wakefield.
