Dulik of South Cle Elum, Wash., retired from the Milwaukee Road this year, he became the third brother in the family to attain a record of more than 50 years in railroading. Dulik is married to the former Sibylla Peot of Luxemburg, Wis. Dulik of South Cle Elum, Wash., retired from the Milwaukee Road this year, he became the third brother in the family to attain a record of more than 50 years in railroading. Dulik is married to the former Sibylla Peot of Luxemburg, Wis. A brother, Louis, worked for 55 years for the Milwaukee Road, and another, Frank, was a station agent and telegraph operator for over 50 years. The three brothers are now planning a get-together. Edward, in his long career, held many different jobs on types of equipment which virtually trace the history of railroading. He began pumping water at Rye, Wash., and transferred to a roundhouse in Othello, Wash. Two months later he was promoted to fireman, and after working on several kinds of steam locomotives he became an engineer in 1918, a position he held until retirement. History of Power The steam locomotive was succeeded by electric-driven locomotives with 3,000-volt power in the mountain areas. He also worked on different makes and sizes of Diesels. His last position was on the Columbia River, in helper service, operating four-unit electric locomotives helping trains between points in the mountains. His most memorable experience came on St. Patrick's Day morning, 1915, when a locomotive he was firing hit a snowslide about 2 a. m. and was carried toward the Yakima River. He escaped uninjured. There are two sons, Edward J. and Robert, both in South Cle Elum, and two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Hoctor, Ellensburg, Wash., and Mrs. Verna Barnes, Eugene, Ore. Another daughter, Agnes, died in 1929.
