Description	:	Edward George Krogmeier, 94, of Fort Madison, died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2009, at his home. Born Jan. 29, 1915, in Fort Madison, he was the son of William and Margaret Hermes Krogmeier. On June 4, 1940, he married Ruth Ida Fraune in Fort Madison. Mr. Krogmeier was a lifelong farmer, and he retired from the Iowa State Penitentiary in 1980 at age 65. He was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and two sisters. Friends may call after 1 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 3 p.m.; the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. and a wake service will be at 6:30 p.m. today at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory in Fort Madison. The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Krogmeier will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Revs. Troy Richmond and Mark Spring as celebrants. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fort Madison. A memorial has been established for Statue Restoration at Sacred Heart Church.
