Description	:	Co E, 15th Iowa Infantry. OBITUARY At the home of Charles and M. A. Porter of Kilbourne, August 3, 1882, Edward H. Platt, a son of George Platt, in the 37 year of his age. The deceased was born in Mansfield, Ohio, Dec. 5, 1845, and came to Iowa with his parents in 1854, and settled in Keosauqua where his mother died while he was quite young; he being the oldest of the family his mother requested for him to attend Sabbath school and church, which he has faithfully kept for over 20 years; he was teacher of the bible of... Read More	Co E, 15th Iowa Infantry. OBITUARY At the home of Charles and M. A. Porter of Kilbourne, August 3, 1882, Edward H. Platt, a son of George Platt, in the 37 year of his age. The deceased was born in Mansfield, Ohio, Dec. 5, 1845, and came to Iowa with his parents in 1854, and settled in Keosauqua where his mother died while he was quite young; he being the oldest of the family his mother requested for him to attend Sabbath school and church, which he has faithfully kept for over 20 years; he was teacher of the bible of the Kilbourne Sabbath school for more than 12 years, taking charge of of his class last Sabbath only two days before his death. He went to the war as a volunteer at the age of 18 and served his country as a noble patriot for two years, returning home without receiving a wound or being imprisoned; he was a wagon maker by trade, and had made his home with the family of Charles Porter for more than eight years; he was highly esteemed and respected by each member of the family and they deeply mourn his loss, but death which loves a shining mark, had marked him for his own, but God’s will not ours will be done. His remains were taken to Keosauqua for burial on last Thursday and were laid by his mother and two brothers who have gone before. He was followed to the grave by a large concourse of many friends. He was a most estimable young man of many graces and accomplishments, and was universally loved and respected by his large circle of acquaintances and friends; he leaves a father and brother and other relatives to mourn his loss with whom we deeply sympathize in this their sad trial.
