Edward was born on December 29, 1923, in Creighton, Nebraska, to Albert P. and Marie F. (Wortman) Tharnish. Edward graduated from St. Ludger's High School, Creighton, Nebraska, and then went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II from December 14, 1943 until December 18, 1945. He married Delta Cole on June 28, 1948 in O'Neill, Nebraska at St. Patrick's Catholic Church; she passed away on June 2, 2008, just shy of their 60th wedding anniversary. Edward was a Maytag repair man for Krotter's, Press Setter for Holt County Independent and a Baker at Ed-De Daylight Donuts from 1978 to 1994. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #701, and the O'Neill American Legion Simonson Post #93. Edward is preceded in death by: parents; wife, Delta Tharnish; 2 Brothers and 1 Sister. Edward is survived by: children; Kathy Sidak and husband Dale, of Emmet, Nebraska, Mark Tharnish and wife Anita, of Aurora, Colorado, Dee Stanzel and husband Greg, of Omaha, Nebraska and Kevin Tharnish and wife Linda, of Waverly, Nebraska; 9 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren; sister, MaryAnn Armstrong and husband Bill, of Russellville, Arkansas. Burial was in the O'Neill Cemetery, O'Neill, Nebraska with Military Rites conducted by the O'Neill (NE.) American Legion Simonson Post #93.
