Description	:	Cherokee Sentinel, Friday, Sept. 29, 1944, page 1: Edward Clayton Dead Edward Clayton, 58, died at 8:30 o'clock Wednesday night at the Mt. Carmel hospital following an illness of six months. His condition became serious about ten days ago at which time he was taken to the hospital. Mr. Clayton was born May 12, 1887, at Lexington, Mo. He had been a resident of Cherokee for 30 years before going to Pittsburg about eighteen months ago to work in the car department for the Frisco. A membership was held in the Masonic lodge here. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Vinita Yankoviz of Pittsburg, and Mrs. Mavis Lomshek of Cherokee R.R.; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Patrick in Colorado and Mrs. Fannie Robinson of Cherokee; two brothers, Ted Clayton of Ritchey, Mo. and Archie Clayton of Lamar, Colo., and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the E.K. Smith Chapel with Rev. J.S. Bottoms of the Cherokee Methodist church officiating. Interment was in the Cherokee cemetery where there were Masonic rites at the graveside.
