He was born in Madison on Aug. 15, 1934, the son of Edward and Lucille (Stinchfield) Castle. Edward graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1952. He served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1976. He was born in Madison on Aug. 15, 1934, the son of Edward and Lucille (Stinchfield) Castle. Edward graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1952. He served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1976. He married Alice Leadman on May 13, 1955, at Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyo. After his military career, he worked at NorthCenter Foods for another 20 years until his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife, Alice Castle, in 1996. He is survived his five children, Deborah McComas, of Huntington, W.Va., John P. Castle, of Augusta, Eric T. Castle, of Maine, Courtney Davis and her husband, Larry, of Norfolk, Va., and Cameron Wilcox and her husband, John, of Belgrade; a sister, Jean Holmes and her husband, Hugh, of Winthrop; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a niece, nephew and cousins. Committal services with military honors will be held in the chapel at the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. (Kennebec Journal 6/11/2010)
