Mr. Dorpinghaus was born May 12, 1931 in Coon Rapids, Iowa to Hubert J. and Victoria F. (Broich) Dorpinghaus. He served with the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1971, retiring in the rank of Senior Master Sergeant, with duty title: Superintendent, Para-Legal Services. He served seven years overseas. Mr. Dorpinghaus married Betti Bollmann on December 8, 1956 in Denver, Colorado. He was employed with the U.S. Postal Service from 1971 until his retirement in 1992; and for twenty two years was employed, part time, with Wolf Construction, Inc. as Contract Administrator and Project Estimator. Survivors include one son, Mark of Coralville; one daughter, Michelle and two grandchildren, Jessica and Jonathan of Spencer, Iowa; seven brothers and sisters, Jim and his wife, Doris of Turlock, California, Margaret and her husband Bob Meis of Surprise, Arizona, Mel and his wife Mary of Maumelle, Arkansas, Leon and his wife Bernita and Mary and her husband Ed Heisterkamp, all of Coon Rapids, Judy of Ogden, Iowa and Carol and her husband John Kirby of Carroll, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betti in 1997, one brother and one infant sister.
