Read More	The following provided by Find A Grave contributor "Cara": Great Falls Tribune (MT), 8 March 1988 Edward Harberson Edward Joseph Harberson, 88, who learned to bake as a child at St. Thomas' Orphans Home and used the skill as his career, died of emphysema Monday in a Great Falls nursing home. Harberson, who was born in Billings on Feb. 5, 1900, came to Great Falls as an orphaned child and was the first child taken in by St. Thomas Orphanage. He attended school at St. Thomas and learned to bake by helping Sister Hermenia in the kitchen. He worked for Eddy Bakery for a few years and then operated a bakery out of his home, delivering bread with a wagon. He established the Bungalow Bakery, first at 12 4th St. S., and moving to 509 First Ave. N. in 1947. He owned and operated the Bungalow until 1957. He baked for the Club Cafeteria and Schell's Townhouse until retiring in 1965. After his son, Richard, died of polio in 1952, Harberson came up with the idea of designating Doughnut Day, with proceeds going to the March of Dimes. The Bungalow began the practice the following year. He was elected president of the Montana Master Bakers Association in 1952. He was well known for the wedding cakes he prepared. The last one he baked was for his son, Robert, and his bride in 1976. Harberson married Cecelia May Gillett in Great Falls on Aug. 13, 1926. She died in 1970. Survivors include sons, Harlan E. Harberson of Los Angeles and Robert Harberson of Great Falls; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom, and a twin sister.
