The immediate cause of Mr. Lichtensteiger's death was a cerebral hemorrhage which he suffered Monday morning. He entered the hospital last Saturday morning, with the expectation of undergoing an operation for kidney trouble Monday morning. The operation was to have taken place at 11 o'clock, but two hours before that time he suffered the cerebral hemorrhage which resulted in his death. The body is at the Huffman Funeral Home, where it will rest until the time of the funeral services. It is planned to hold the rites at the funeral home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, with the Rev. William R. Yingling, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the family lot in the Carroll Cemetery. Mr. Lichtensteiger was well known in Carroll where he had lived since he was four years old. He was born at Ixonia, Wis., Sept. 10, 1868, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Lichtensteiger. He came to Carroll with his parents on July 3, 1872, and had lived here ever since that time. When he was ten years old his father passed away. He attended the Carroll public school when it stood on the site of the presnet Texaco Service Station at the corner of Sixth and Carroll Streets, after which he attended Carroll High School. For many years Mr Lichtensteiger worked in the offices of the Standard Oil Company here, having been associated in such employ with the late J.N. Traner. In 1897 he discontinued this work to take a position as bill clerk for the Chicago & Northwestern Railway company. After the death of his mother, which occurred Jan 14, 1919, he resigned his position to enter the grocery business with his sister, Mary Lichtensteiger, and half-sister Minnie Ruesch. Surviving Mr Lichtensteiger are his sister and half-sister above named, Miss Mary Lichtensteiger and Miss Minnie Ruesch, with whom he made his home; and three nephews, Edward Francis Throop and Elmer William Throop of Carroll and Harold Clayton Throop of Los Angeles, CA. Harold arrived a week ago to visit his relatives. Besides his parents, Mr Lichtensteiger was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Frank Throop, who passed away April 22, 1930.
