Description	:	Edward J. Reiss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Reiss, was born June 30, 1898 at Kramer and died at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lincoln on February 3, 1937 at the age of 38 years, seven months, and three days. He was baptized on June 3, 1899 by Rev. Lohr of Kramer and confirmed on March 31, 1912 by Rev. J. Biehusen of Crete. Reiss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Reiss, was born June 30, 1898 at Kramer and died at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lincoln on February 3, 1937 at the age of 38 years, seven months, and three days. He was baptized on June 3, 1899 by Rev. Lohr of Kramer and confirmed on March 31, 1912 by Rev. J. Biehusen of Crete. His parents preceded him in death, his mother in 1909 and his father a year later in 1910. After the death of his parents, he was taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Holk, this being his home until he began farming for himself on a farm near Berks in the year, 1929 to 1932. In the spring of 1932 he moved to a farm one and one-half miles north of Kramer and November last he moved to the farm he occupied at the time of his passing. On May 17, 1931 he was married to Alvina Hackstock by Rev. A. Cholcher of Kramer. To this union was born one daughter, Esther Mae. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and small daughter, two brothers, Paul of Belvidere and Hellmuth of Pleasant Dale; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Wells of Dorchester, Mrs. Ella Behrens of Pleasant Dale, and Mrs Walthrude Plessman, also one brother, Walter Reiss. Funeral services were held at one o'clock on Sunday in the Kramer Lutheran Church. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery. Those from a distance who attended the funeral of Edward J. Reiss were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Babka and Mrs. Paul Reiss and two children of Belvidere; Herman Riechers and Mr. and Mrs. Blum of Clatonia; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bathel, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bathel, Louis Scheffert, Mrs. Valley Smith, Alfred Behrens, Dorothea Behrens, Bernice Wells, V. Glebe and daughter, Evelyn, all of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Meinke, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Kramer, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Reiss, all of Denton; Mr. and Mrs. Linus Schmidt, Mrs. Roy Wells and son, Alvin of Dorchester; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Behrens, Jr. and Mrs. Harvey Behrens, Hellmuth Reiss of Pleasant Dale Source: The Crete News, February 11, 1937
