Edward's draft card also says that he was a clerk at "The Mercantile", located on Main St., in Pomeroy, Washington. Edward was living in Pomeroy with his wife, Bertha at the time he registered. Edward had married Bertha Obenland on February 4, 1913 in St. Aloysius Church in Spokane, Washington. Edward's description on the registration card says that he was of medium height and stout. ... Edward's draft card also says that he was a clerk at "The Mercantile", located on Main St., in Pomeroy, Washington. Edward was living in Pomeroy with his wife, Bertha at the time he registered. He had dark brown eyes and brown hair. The 1920 Federal Census shows Edward, Bertha, son John Vincent and daughter Cecilia Ann renting a house in Pomeroy. Edward was still working as a salesman at a store. John was born in 1914, and Cecilia was born in 1916. The couple had one other son, Joseph Edward, born in 1922. Edward worked in the Pomeroy Mercantile and later became a stockholder in the company. He also ran a service station in Pomeroy and bought the local "Summerville Club House." He died on Valentine's day, 1944. Edward was buried in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Pomeroy with his son John, who had passed away three and a half years prior.
