Description	:	Edward was the youngest child of Robert Henry Pruden and Nancy Ann (Agens) Pruden. He was born at Dover General Hospital on June 8, 1932. His family resided in Stanhope, NJ, Sussex County. He entered the Air Force in 1952, and the same year married his high school sweetheart, Loretta Ann DiBernard. He was born at Dover General Hospital on June 8, 1932. His family resided in Stanhope, NJ, Sussex County. He entered the Air Force in 1952, and the same year married his high school sweetheart, Loretta Ann DiBernard. He was stationed in New Mexico for two years. There he welcomed two more daughters, Susan in 1955 and Michele in 1964. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by several siblings and a grandson, Jeremy Van Heemst in 1987. He is survived by a sister, Harriet (Pruden) McConnell, a brother Ralph (died 2006), his loving wife of 52 years, Loretta, daughters Nancy Van Heemst, Susan Gonzalez Baldwin, and Michele Sorhagen, and seven grandchildren, Dana (Gonzalez) Kmec, Anthony Gonzalez, Nicholas, Joel, and Kym Van Heemst, and Joshua and Leah Sorhagen. He was the best and most loving grandfather ever. He took us fishing, we helped him in his garden, he fixed and painted our houses, and went to every single play, baseball game, cheerleading competition, and wrestling match we ever had. He loved the Mets, hated the Yankees, and passed that down to all of his grandkids. He was our "Pop". No one will ever take his place in our hearts. He was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect in 1970. For 35 years he struggled with irregular heartbeats, breathing problems, had an implanted defibbulator and bouts of congestive heart failure. He never complained and was very active, despite having a heart that was extremely damaged. In December of 2004, he was informed that he needed open heart surgery to repair a valve. He came through that surgery great, and was home in 6 days for Christmas. Unfortunately, two weeks later, the surgery caused a blod clot to travel to his intestines. After four long months in the hospital with his intestines so badly damaged by the clot they could not be repaired, he passed away peacefully with his wife, two daughters, and a grandson by his side. Our lives will never be the same without him.
