Description	:	Mr. Edward John Hockin passed away March 26 in Red deer hospital at the age of 71 years. He was born in London, Ont., and came west with his parents and two brothers to the Lacombe district in April 1892 at the age of six years. Later they made their home near the Red Deer River, south-east of Haynes. In May, 1909 he married Maude Lund who predeceased him in 1944. Read More	Mr. Edward John Hockin passed away March 26 in Red deer hospital at the age of 71 years. He was born in London, Ont., and came west with his parents and two brothers to the Lacombe district in April 1892 at the age of six years. Later they made their home near the Red Deer River, south-east of Haynes. In May, 1909 he married Maude Lund who predeceased him in 1944. They made their home about four miles further west near the river until they homesteaded near Haynes for four years. Then he and his family moved to a farm seven miles south of Haynes, and resided there until 1952. While living here he hauled the mail with horses from Haynes to Clive from 1919 to 1932. In 1952 he and his son bought a small pig ranch near the east Red Deer river bridge, where he lived until his death. He leaves to mourn his loss one son John, one daughter Mrs. K. Getz of Cumberland, two grandchildren and three brothers Orval and Albert of Red Deer, and Will who lives in Vancouver. Funeral services were held from the Brown & Johnson Funeral Chapel, Red Deer, with Rev. Bell officiating, on March 29 at 2 p.m. Pallbearers were: S. Nelson, Harry Jacobson, Peter Schneider, Jack Puzey, Eugene Domoney and Joe Dale. Interment was in the Red Deer Cemetery. The Times, Delburne, Alberta, Thursday, April 4, 1957
