Dad was born at home at Withrow, WA on December 21, 1919, to John George Jordan and Mary Barbara (Besel) Jordan, the second of seven sons. Dad married Mom, Margaret Jean Miller, the daughter of Anderson Lee Miller and Pansy (Justice) Miller, at the Lutheran Church at Withrow, WA on September 6, 1942. After their marriage, Dad and Mom moved to Seattle, where Dad worked at Boeing and Todd Shipyards, until he was drafted into the Army in December 1942. Mom, pregnant with the first of their five sons, moved back to Wenatchee to live with her parents until Dads discharge from the Army. On July 19, 1943, Mom gave birth to their first son, Ronald Lee Jordan. Dad served in the 104th Infantry Division, H Company, 415th Infantry, known as the Timberwolves. Dad was in the group that went into Normandy after the invasion. They fought their way from Normandy to Berlin to finally see the end of World War II. Dad was a Technician 5th grade and was awarded the bronze medal. Dad was honorably discharged on October 15, 1945. After Dads discharge from the Army, he, Mom and their young son, Ron, settled in Waterville. Dad went to work for Polson Automotive as an auto mechanic. He later went to work for Douglas County as their equipment supervisor. After more than 20 years there, he retired at the age of 62. After Dads retirement, he and Mom did the traveling they had always wanted to do. They spent their winters in Tucson, AZ. They took a road trip to Alaska. Dad and Moms final trip together was a cruise down the west coast of Mexico and through the Panama Canal. However, just before getting to the Panama Canal, Mom unexpectedly passed away. Since Moms passing, Dad had kept busy and active doing carpentry work, which he loved doing and was so talented at doing. He constructed several grandfather clock cases, computer desks, a filing cabinet, vanities and jewelry boxes for his four granddaughters and a gun case for his grandson. In October 1994, Dad took a trip with other members of his Timberwolves to Europe, to retrace the routes they had taken 50 years earlier, from Portsmouth, England to Berlin. The highlight of the trip, Dad told us, was Holland. The Dutch people were so grateful for having been liberated from the German occupation of World War II that they put on several celebrations along the way for the returning Timberwolves. Dad was very much taken by the appreciation of the Dutch people. Dad was very proud of his family. He was totally devoted to them and there wasnt anything that he wouldnt have done for them. Dad is survived by his four sons, Ronald (Sue), Richard, Randal (Patricia) and Rodney (Karen); his grandchildren, Darin (Janel), Ronald (Elaine), Kelli (Don), Loni, Keri, Bethany and Seth (Nicole); and his step-grandchildren, Shanon and Shaun. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Thomas, Cody, Julianna, Garret, Bria and Brayden; and two step-great-grandchildren, Natalie and Grant. Dad was preceded in death by his fifth son, Robert Kent, on April 5, 1954; and by Mom on May 9, 1991. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at the Waterville Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 24, at the Waterville Funeral Home. Arrangements are by the Waterville Funeral Home.
