Description	:	Edward J Armbruster, 66, a lifelong Manson resident and a community leader, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 1990, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. He was born Dec. 14, 1923, at Manson to James and Violet (Smith) Armbruster. He attended school at Manson and graduated from Manson High School in 1942. Read More	Edward J Armbruster, 66, a lifelong Manson resident and a community leader, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 1990, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. He was born Dec. 14, 1923, at Manson to James and Violet (Smith) Armbruster. He attended school at Manson and graduated from Manson High School in 1942. He attended the University of Washington until his military reserve unit was called to active duty during World War II. He received his commission and served in the European, African and Italian theaters with the US Army Air Corps. He received several medals for his service, including the Air Medal and three Oak Leaf Clusters, several campaign medals and a Bronze Battle Participation Star. During his active duty, he was the navigator on a B-17 Flying Fortress. After his discharge, he returned to Manson and married Patty Sue McClellan in 1947. Mr. Armbruster worked for the US Forest Service until 1965, when he became manager fo the Lake Chelan Reclamation District. He retired in 1979 and became a full-time orchardist. He had been president of the Washington State School Directors Association, the Manson School Board, the Lake Chelan Community Hospital Board and the commission serving the fire district in Manson. He had been active with the Lake Chelan Reclamation District, the Washington State Water Resources Association, the Lake Chelan Valley Ambulance Association, the Washington State Board of Education and the Washington State Interscholastic Activities Association. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Trout Inc., the Manson Fire Department and was and emergency medical technician. Survivors include his wife, at home; three sons, Lanny of Manson, Todd of Las Vegas, Nev., and Tony of Rapid City, SD., two daughters, Vicki Peebles of Chelan and Karen Jeffries of Manson; his mother, Violet Armbruster of Santa Cruz, Calif.; two brothers, Dale of Palm Springs, Calif., and Dean of Issaquah; a sister, Cheryl Keay of Santa Cruz; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
