Read More	Nashua Reporter July 14, 1937 OBITUARY OF EDWARD WENTWORTH Edward Wentworth was born at North Bridgewater, Mass., Nov. 20, 1846, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Lord Wentworth, and passed away July 6, 1937 at the home of his son Fred in Nashua. His early life was spent with his father in Massachusetts. He received his early education in academics. At the age of 18 he came to Iowa with D.B. Hatch's and settled at Wilson's Grove, the present site of Sumner. He was an army nurse during the Civil War, serving at Bedlou Island. He was captain of the militia at Sumner and served at the arsenal at Davenport during the World War. In 1870 he was united in marriage to Fannie Taft at Wilson's Grove where they farmed a few years and he served as buttermaker at different creameries. Eight children were born to this union, namely, Ralph of Ortonville, Minn.; Fred of Nashua; Mrs. Mae Zwanziger and Clinton of Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Ruth Duecker of Hardy and Mrs. Leah Juhl of Plainfield, and Mrs. Pearl Rowe of Oakland, deceased on Feb. 4, 1928. Also nine grandchildren, Everet Wentworth of Fergus Falls, Minn.; Donald Wentworth of Ortonville; Dr. Laydon Wentworth, Marble Rock; Dorothy Baker of Massachusetts; Hollis Duecker of Hardy, Ia.; Lorraine, Eugene, Harriet and Joan Juhl of Plainfield, and two great grandchildren, sons of Dr. L.S. Wentworth, Allan and Dean, all of Marble Rock. The family lived at Sumner until 1898 when they moved to a farm east of Nashua. In 1910 they moved to Waverly, where Mrs. Wentworth passed away on Nov. 26, 1910. Since then he has lived with his children spending eight years in California. After returning to Iowa in June 1936, he has been in poor health, though he was able to be up about the house. He was a patient sufferer, a kind father and leaves many friends besides his relatives to mourn his passing. He often spoke of the progress made in history in his span of life. Funeral services were held Friday, July 9, at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church, Rev. R.E. Hodgkin, officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Card of Thanks We wish to thank the many friends for deeds of kindness extended to us, and for the beautiful floral offerings sent, at the death of our father, Edward Wentworth. - The Children Humboldt Republican July 16, 1937 IN NASHUA AT HOME OF HIS SON, FRED HARDY - Mrs. A.F. Duecker received word Wednesday of the death of her father, Ed Wentworth, who passed away at the home of his son Fred Wentworth at Nashua. He was almost 92 years of age, and had been in failing health the last year. Mr. Wentworth made his home in Hardy with his daughter, Mrs. Duecker, for several months, and early this summer went to stay with another daughter, Mrs. John Juhl at Plainfield. Funeral services were held at Nashua Friday. Those who attended from Hardy were Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Duecker and son, Hollis, Charles Helland, Herman Ernst, Phillip Wilson and Loren Kelling.
