Edward Leo Colsch, son of Nick and Charlotte (Theobold) Colsch, was born January 27, 1921 near New Albin, Iowa. Edward was drafted into the U.S. Army October 20, 1942 and served in Iwo Jima and Saipan. He was awarded a purple heart and many other medals and ribbons. He was honorably discharged on November 16, 1945. He was an active member of the New Albin VFW Post 5603, the Lansing American Legion, the historical societies of Allamakee County and Houston County, Minnesota, and the Brotherhood of Independent Hobos of America. His hobo name was "Bo Britt Eddie". Edward Leo Colsch died at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin on Sunday, May 18, 1997. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, LeRoy Colsch and Carl Colsch; 1 grandson, and 4 great-grandchildren.
