Description	:	West Valley View 6/07/2000 Edward Lewis Burton, aged 64, died June 4, 2000 in Sun City after a long illness. A Litchfield Park resident, Burton was born on his family's farm north of Colfax, Iowa in 1935. In school, Burton was president of the Mingo Future Farmers of America, and a member of 4-H, band and drama club. A Litchfield Park resident, Burton was born on his family's farm north of Colfax, Iowa in 1935. In school, Burton was president of the Mingo Future Farmers of America, and a member of 4-H, band and drama club. He attended what is now the University of Northern Iowa, where he met and eventually married Janet Allan in 1957. Burton received his degree in industrial education in 1958, and in 1970 earned his master's degree in industrial education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Afterward, the Burtons moved to Buckeye, and in 1972 Burton was named curriculum consultant for the Arizona Department of Education. As a teacher, Burton worked at several schools, including Buckeye Union High School and Dysart High, and taught extension classes through Arizona State University. Burton was also fleet manager at Palo Verde Nuclear Power Plant and training administrator for electric power operations at APS. In 1991, Burton served on projects across the country as a site project manager for N.U.S. Training Corp. Burton was a member of the Community Church of Buckeye, Mensa, the NRA, the Scottish Rite in Phoenix, and held dual memberships in Masonic lodges in Winthrop, Iowa and Avondale. Burton is survived by: his daughters, Mary (Edd) Reece, Cindy and Kate Peerman; sons, Dan (Kelli); sister, Margaret Baude; and seven grandchildren. Burton is preceded in death by his wife Janet, who died May 15, 2000. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Community Church of Buckeye. Internment will be in Restland Cemetery in Baxter, Iowa, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to: Hospice of the Valley, West Valley office, 9720 Peoria Ave., Suite 128, Peoria 85345. Valley West Funeral Chapel made the arrangements.
