Description	:	Edward Siebels age 85, of Monticello, died early Friday morning at his daughters home on the Siebels family Century farm, following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held 10:30 Monday morning, December 21, 2009 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. He was preceded in death by his Parents, his wife Alice on March 20, 2006, and an infant daughter, Carol and an infant sister Augusta. Edward Louis Siebels was born August 18, 1924 in Castle Grove Township, Jones County, Iowa. He was the son of Garret and Fannie Schaefer, Siebels. Ed attended school at Castle Grove School #4. He then started his lifes work as a farmer. Ed Siebels and Alice Wacker were married February 10, 1949 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa. The couple farmed the Siebels family farm in Castle Grove Township. They moved from the farm to Monticello in 1991. Ed continued to farm with his son Ken until the time of his death. He was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Ed had served on the Prairie Hill Cemetery board for 17 years. He had also been an active member of S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church before moving to Monticello, serving on the church council. He was one of the original board members of the Swiss Valley Co-op. Ed served as a 4 H Leader for the Castle Grove Royal Rangers, and served on the 4 H County Committee. He was the last living member of the Castle Grove Card Club.
