He passed away at the Ottumwa hospital, October 16, 1934, at the age of 71 years 9 months, 13 days. He was united in marriage to Mamie Stubblefield, June 5, 1883. To this union were born three sons, Roy, Earnest, and Earl. He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Earl. Brown, son of Lloyd and Angeline Brown, was born in Leando, Iowa, January 9, 1863. He passed away at the Ottumwa hospital, October 16, 1934, at the age of 71 years 9 months, 13 days. Mr. Brown lived his entire life in and near Leando, except a few years spent in the west. He has been a member of Railway Maintenance Lodge for a number of years. He is survived by his wife and four sons, Roy, of Davenport; Earnest, of Ottumwa; Floyd, of Valley Junction, and Walter, of Leando; also one grandson, one granddaughter and two sisters, Mrs. James Loomis, of Douds, and Mrs. Judd Brassfied(sp), of Boise, Idaho. One sister, Mrs. John Kriss, and one brother, Frank Brown, of Leando preceded him in death several months ago. He will be remembered as a loyal and sympathetic husband and father. Another sufferer has gone to rest, Another soul has flown, A golden link from affection drain, Has severed our earthly home. Funeral services were held Thursday, October 18, from the Methodist church in Leando, conducted by Rev. C.H. Chader, of Blakesburg, and Rev. J.S. Stevens, of Douds. The pall bearers were Charles Benning, A.J. Gilbert, Theodore Gilbert, S.C. Hull, C.A. Hull, and Milton Grubbs. The singers were Leslie Swires, Samuel Adams, Mrs. Finney, Mrs. Mattie Nutt, Mrs. Earnest Greenfield. Interment was made in Leando cemetery. Source: Van Buren Co.
