Description	:	News was received here Monday of the sad death of Eddie Malloy, which occurred about forty miles from Leadville, Colo., on the Colorado Midland railroad, where he was firing on an engine, and on passing around a curve he lost his balance and fell through a side door down a steep grade, receiving severe injuries about the head, from which he died in several hours after falling. His body was brought here for burial, when we followed his remains to their last resting place in the Lizard burying ground. His parents have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. The Fort Dodge Weekly Chronicle August 1, 1894. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The accidental killing of Edward Malloy in Colorado last week was a most sad one. Mr. Malloy was born in Canada 27 years ago, and removed with his parents at a young age to this county, where he lived until about 11 years ago when he went to railroading in Colorado, where he remained until he met his untimely death. He was an engineer with headquarters at Leadville. On the morning of his death he was running the head engine of three, pulling a train upgrade, while standing in his cab door in rounding a curve the engine gave a lurch throwing him out. His head struck some part of the engine with such force as to cut a deep gash, from which he died in a short time. He was an exemplary young man and to know him was to respect him. He was a cousin to J.M., E.J. and John Hood and they with his bereaved parents have the heartfelt sympathy of the community. The Fort Dodge Messenger Friday, August 3, 1894.
