Mr McGuire had been ailing for nearly a year before his death, with what the physicians who attended him pronounced to be rheumatism and for which he was treated. Receiving no relief, about three weeks ago, he and his brother James went to Rochester, Minnesota, to consult the Mayo doctors. Their diagnosis disclosed that he was afflicted with Brights disease of the kidneys in a very aggravated form. The doctors informed McGuire that he was afflicted with the disease and that he was in a very serious condition. To James McGuire, the doctors gave no hope of recovery, and said that his demise might be expected at any time, so that his death was not unexpected. Edward McGuire was born at Coberg, Ontario, Canada on April 16, 1861. He came to Lyon county about thirty-five years ago, and settled on the farm near Edna, in Liberal township, which is now owned by J F McGraw. About twenty years ago he was married to Miss Maggie Bowen at Larchwood, where the bride lived. Five children, three daughters and two sons were born to them, all of whom lived at home. Six years ago Mr McGuire sold his fine farm here and moved to Yale, SD, near which place he purchased a fine farm, and where he has since lived. Besides the wife and five children, deceased is survived by two brothers, James of this city and Marcus of Cherokee. Mr McGuire was a splendid type of manhood, a loving husband and dutiful father, and was held in the highest respect by all who knew him. The funeral was held Monday at Cavour, SD, where interment was made in the Catholic cemetery. Those from here who attended were James McGuire Sr and Jr and J E McGuire, who went by train Saturday. Edward and Egan McGuire, --- James and Anthony McGuire and the Misses Bridget and Mary Egan went by auto Sunday. Contributor: Karyn Crouse
