Married Mary Murphy on April 1, 1877 in McLean County, Ill. ____________________________________________ OBITUARY Greeley Citizen (Greeley, Nebr.), April 12, 1923, p. 1, col. 5 EDWARD KELLY SUCCUMBS TO THE INFIRMITIES OF OLD AGE The Final Call Comes to a Pioneer Resident of this County - Burial in Butler County Edward Kelly, one of the pioneer settlers of Greeley county, died at a home for the aged at West Point last Sunday. Death was due to the informities of old age. He had been in poor health for the last ten years and his condition had been quite feeble the last six months. Mr. Kelly was a native of Ireland where he was born seventy-four years ago March 8, last. When 12 years old he came to America, locating at Bloomington, Ill. Here he was married about fifty years ago to Miss Mary Murphy. They lived near Bloomington for a few years. In 1884 they moved to Butler county, Nebraska, locating on a farm near David City. The family moved to Greeley county in 1900, settling on a farm one mile north of Horace. The deceased is survived by four sons and three daughters. The children are Mrs. William Moran, Edward, John, Mrs. Tom Ralph, Tom, Jim and Mrs. Art Jeffres of Douglas, Wyo. William Murphy and E. B. Murphy are brothers-in-law of the deceased. Mrs. Kelly died twenty-six years ago last September in Butler county. Ed, Tom and Jim Kelly left Monday morning for West Point. The other three children residing here left Tuesday for David City to attend the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Murphy left Monday afternoon for David City. The funeral was held yesterday morning at Center, Butler county, and the body laid to rest at the side of his wife and two children who died in infancy. Mr. Kelly left here about five years ago and remained at a hospital in Grand Island for two years before going to the home at West Point.
