The seriousness of his illness was scarcely credited by most of his friends, and when it was announced on Wednesday that he had passed away, it was shocking and surprising. Mr. Noonan had suffered for some time from Bright's disease and during the last weeks of his life he was confined to his bed until death came to relieve the patient sufferer. Edward Noonan was born on the old homestead in Jackson county, June 13th, 1843, and was past seventy years of age. He was the son of John and Ellen Noonan, both of whom died several years ago. His life was spent upon the farm. "Ned" was one of the most popular men of the country, and his friends among the old and young were numbered by the score, his friendship being warm and lasting. Besides his wife, the departed is survived by two brothers, P. C. and John Noonan, one sister, Mrs. Johanna Williams, all of Garryowen; also the following children: Jerry, of Denver, Colo.; M. J., of San Francisco, Cal.; Nellie, of Castle Grove, la.; Mrs. B. L. McNally, of Wadena, Minn.; James, Patrick, Lizzie, Josie, and Theresa, at home. The funeral services were held at St. Patrick's church on Friday morning, and burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. P. J. Coffey officiated, assisted by Rev. M. S. Murphy of Castle Grove. The pall bearers were: William Cannon, Dave Donovan, Patrick Brady, Thomas Kennedy, James Cannon, John Fitzpatrick.
