Description	:	Last Rites For Edward Peterson Held in Cushing Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 22 at the Lutheran Church in Cushing for Edward R. Peterson. Rev. Eugene Wekander of Dannebrog conducted the servcies. Interment was in St. Paul. Pallbearers were Neal Lynch, Vaughn Peterson, Herbert Seevers, Raymond A. Forbes, Orval Jepson and Merlin Peterson. Peterson was born on September 15, 1876 to Rasmus and Rasmine Peterson in Salten,Denmark, and departed this life on May 19, 1951 at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 4 days. He migrated from Denmark with his parents and family at the age of 8 years, settling in Omaha for two years. His father and mother then homesteaded in Howard County east of Cushing. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith in Denmark as a small child and was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran church of Cushing. He was united in marriage to Meda Ellen Scott on February 17, 1904, at the home of her parents in Gage Valley. They moved to Cushing, where he operated a barber shop. To this union were born two children, Amas B. Peterson of Cushing and Mrs. Arthur J. Lynch of St. Paul. There are five grandchildren, Vaughn and Donna Peterson, Lorraine Seevers and Neal and Sally Lynch. His wife preceded him in death on December 5, 1946. In 1932 Mr. Pterson was elected Sheriff of Howard County serving that office for 7 years. Immediately following, he was engaged in business in St. Paul for 4 years. The remaining years were spent in retirement at his home in St. Paul. In addition to his children and grandchildren he is survived by one brother, Jim of St. Paul, four sisters, Mary Jacobsen of Cushing, Georgia Peterson of Salem, Oregon, Mary Buhl of Fremont and Minnie Jepson of St. Paul. His Father, Mother and one Brother, John, preceded him in death. His first thoughts were of his family. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to all who knew him.
