Description	:	Edward enlisted in the American Army April 11, 1917 and served in the Hawaiian and Phillipine Islands until his discharge in September 1919. He took special electrical training in the army and after his discharge became city electrician at Leigh, Nebraska, and later at Dodge. He later purchased an electrical ship at Central City. Because of poor health, he sold this business and was then employed by the electrical department at the Courtright Hardware store in Fremont. Ill health forced him to retire. He was survived by his wife and four children: Ruth, Merrill, Betty Ann and Jean; his parents Mr. and Mrs. John Metzger of Leigh; a brother Louis of Leigh; a sister, Mrs. Fred Clausen of Rock Island, Illinois. A sister, Ella, preceded him in death.
