The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Overlook Cemetery. He was born in Leaksville, N.C., (now Eden). He was a 12 year member of the National N.C. Guard, member of American Legion (Reidsville), active in Rockingham County Republican Party and the Presidential Task Force. He was a WWII Army Veteran, receiving the following medals: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal-Germany Clasp, Combat Infantryman Badge, Honorable Service Lapel Button, WWII Marksman Badge with Machine Gun and Rifle Bars. Survivors are his 15 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and others.
