Mr. Young, a former South Dakota rancher, died Tuesday, December 23 at his home in Urbandale. He was born November 25, 1892 in South Dakota, the son of William and Charity Frances Young, and lived in the Wheeler, South Dakota area as a boy. He was married to Cora Edith Harris, formerly of Anita, at Plainview, South Dakota, August 25, 1915 and they later lived in Mead County, South Dakota, moving to Urbandale in 1967. For six years he was employed on construction of Mount Rushmore. Surviving are his widow; two sons, Arnold and Charles, of Urbandale; a daughter, Leota Dillon of Leesburg, Florida; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace of San Jose, California and Ruth of Platte, South Dakota; four brothers, Maple of Lake Andes, South Dakota, Roy of Pocatello, Idaho, Merritt of Gettsy, South Dakota, and Walter of Barstow, California. He was preceded in death by his father, who died in 1936; his mother, who died in 1942; three brothers, Asher and Clarence who died in 1957 and Ray, who died in 1963; a sister, Pearl Asmus, who died in 1974; and a son, Marion, who died in 1956. Mr. Young was an uncle of Mrs. Arthur Garside and Elwin Karas of Anita.
