"Ed" Haas, 86, long time Grant County Farmer and Rancher will be Wednesday, June 8, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethesda United Methodist Church in Elgin, ND. Pastor Larry Ouhl will officiate and burial will follow at the Methodist Cemetery in Elgin. Visitations will be from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 7th at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin and one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday morning. A family service will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. EDWARD RUBEN HAAS was born on December 10, 1918 on the homestead south of Elgin, ND. He grew up on the farm and attended school in Elgin. Ed farmed and ranched all his life. Ed was a talented man with a welder and was continuously building improvements on the ranch. On October 22, 1946 he married Anna Mae Nordstrom of Bismarck, ND. They began raising a family of five children. Later on in life, Ed and Anna Mae spent many winters in Mesa, AZ. Ed had many hobbies. He enjoyed woodworking and rock work. He made many beautiful clocks of rock to give away to family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting with his many friends. Ed was a past member of the Elgin Lions Club, the Elgin Saddle Club and the Elgin Golf Club. He was also a member of the Bethesda United Methodist Church in Elgin. Ed Haas passed away on June 3, 2005 at the St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Anna Mae; sons, Larry (Mary) and Tom (Nancy), all of Elgin; three daughters, Connie (Greg) Werner, Dubuque, IA, Debbie (Tommy) Smith, of Longview, TX and Linda (Jerry) O'Shea, of Bismarck; grandchildren, Scott (Michelle) Haas, Jenny (Daniel) Tolbert, Tom Werner, Crystal Werner, Stephanie (Jesse) Clooten, Samantha Haas, Tiffany Scherr, Chelsey O'Shea and Trevor O'Shea; great grandchildren, Kylie, Zachary and Brooke Haas and Jaxon Clooten. Preceding Ed in death were his parents, his brother Ben Haas, sisters, Martha Okken, Esther Lippert, Tillie Moen and Clara Malsam.
