The father, born in Carmarthenshire, Wales, July 12, 1818, came to America in 1832. His wife was born in Carmarthenshire, Wales, November 12, 1830, and came to America in 1840. The father, born in Carmarthenshire, Wales, July 12, 1818, came to America in 1832. His wife was born in Carmarthenshire, Wales, November 12, 1830, and came to America in 1840. In May, 1887, Mr. Davis was graduated from high school at Indianola, Iowa. He was in the hardware business from 1885 until 1900; Sidney, Iowa, until 1891, Broken Bow, Nebraska, from 1891 until 1894, and from 1894, until 1900, at North Platte, Nebraska. He served as deputy county treasurer from 1900 until 1904, in Lincoln County, Nebraska. He was county treasurer from 1904-08, also of Lincoln County, Nebraska; postmaster from 1911, until 1916, of North Platte, Nebraska; and grand secretary of the Grand Lodge I. O. O. F. of Nebraska from 1923, until the present time. He is also a member of the Kiwanis Club. He is a great lover of nature and enjoys fishing, and is also devoted to history and pioneer life.On October 12, 1892, he was married to Clara Leona Eskew, at Sidney, Iowa. She was born at Sidney, Iowa, January 25, 1872. They have two children, William Edward, born February 3, 1900, who married Alberta Callender, who served in Students Army Training Corps at Ames, Iowa, during the war and is also a graduate of the University of Nebraska; and Robert Lee, born August 17, 1909, who is single. Both children were born at North Platte.During the late war, Mr. Davis was an active participant in all bond and loan drives as a five minute man. He is a Republican, and has served as state representative during the sessions of 1919 to 1921 in the Nebraska state legislature. Residence: North Platte. NEBRASKANA, 1932
