Description	:	Edward Shackley was my Grandfather's older brother and the family came to the USA in 1869 [I was mistaken when I left flowers] when Edward was nine. The family first settled in Wisconsin for about ten years, It appears that Edward and Minnie A. Fox were married in Wisconsin, and then moved to Nebraska,perhaps following the Shackley Family, where Edward would make his home for the rest of his life. Many Thanks for the following obituary that was sent to me by Tresa De George, the 2nd Great Granddaughter of Edward Shackley's mother, who also sent me a picture of the Shackley family estimated to have been taken in about 1869 prior to the rest of the family coming to this country. It is really great when someone finds something and forwards it to someone who can make sure that it doesn't get misplaced. Thanks to Tresa and her husband Nick. Edward Shackley, the third child of John and Elizabeth Shackley was born Sept. 13. 1860 near St. Bees Cumberland, County, England. He came to America with his parents in 1869. They located near Mineral Point, Wis. where they lived until they came to Nebraska 1880. The lived on a farm 20 miles west of Grand Island in Hall County. Here Edward Shackley was married to Minnie Fox, Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 29, 1884. To this union 3 children were born - William E., Fred V. and Jennie M. With his wife, "they moved" to Sedgwick County, Colo. where they settled on a homestead 1886. They resided there for 10 years enduring all the hardships of pioneers. The wife and mother passed away on June 24, 1917 at the home near Darr [Nebraska]. Mr. Shackley earned a living by working hard. His motto for right living was to follow the Golden Rule, and he always "By their fruits you shall know them." In all communities where he lived he had many friends. Ed Shackley, as he was familiarly known had lived in Nebraska for 52 years and forty of them in Rawson County. He passed away in his home near Darr Nebraska on Nov. 20, 1942 at the age of 82 years, 2 months, and 7 days. Two Correction that should be made Grand Nephew Douglas John Shackley to this obituary that is known in 2018, is his father came to this country the year before the rest of the family, and according to the marriage license he and Minnie Fax was married November 29, 1883.
