Read More	Published in the Arcadia Champion, Arcadia, Nebraska, Friday, August 3, 1923, Page 1, Column 3 OBITUARY Edward Fagen, aged 71 years, 3 months and 22 days, passed away at his home in Arcadia, Nebr., July 25, 1923. Mr. Fagen had not been in the best of health for some time, but was active, and able to be about as usual, until three weeks ago, when he had an attack of heart trouble. His condition was not considered serious, and his death came as a terrible shock to his many relatives and friends. Mr. Fagen was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on April 3, 1852. He lived with his parents at that place until he grew to manhood. When he moved to the western part of Iowa and made his home until 1883. In 1880 he was united in marriage to Miss Mary McDowell. To this union six children were born, five of whom are still living. Mr. Fagen moved with his family to Sherman county, in 1883 where he homesteaded a piece of land in the northwestern part of the county. He and his wife endured the hardships of pioneer life and struggled along to make a home for themselves and their children, who all grew to manhood and womanhood on this place. About seven years ago Mr. Fagen and his wife, moved to Arcadia where they retired from their labor and care of farm life. Funeral services were conducted at the Sacred Heart church of Arcadia, Nebr., July 28, 1923 at 10 o'clock. Requiem High Mass was celebrated by the Rev. Father Alexandria of Loup City, Nebr., Rev. Father Moser of Eddyville, Nebr., and Rev. Father Hinvnan of Sargent, Nebr. He was laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery of Lees Park, Nebr. Mr. Fagen is survived by his wife, Mary Fagen, two sons, and three daughters; Mrs. Agnes Anderson, Mrs. Minnie Guyor both of Fremont, Nebr., Mrs. Katie Murray, Vincent Fagen and Edward Fagen of Arcadia, Nebr., and thirteen grandchildren and two brothers and one sister, William and Peter Fagen and Miss Mary Fagen of Mo. Valley, Iowa and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his death.
