Edward Thomas Watt was born August 5, 1930, in Lead, to Thomas and Katherine (Grady) Watt. He was raised in Lead and graduated from Lead High School. He married Shirley Clingman on Nov. 23, 1949. They were married for 47 years, until her passing on January 16, 1997. Edward Thomas Watt was born August 5, 1930, in Lead, to Thomas and Katherine (Grady) Watt. He was raised in Lead and graduated from Lead High School. He married Shirley Clingman on Nov. 23, 1949. They were married for 47 years, until her passing on January 16, 1997. Ed worked for 28 years as a welder, in the blacksmith shop for Homestake Mining Co. and for Hall and Clauser in Spearfish for a number of years. He also taught welding at night school in Lead. He was very active with the Boy Scouts for many years. He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America #7044 and the Black Powder Rifle Club. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping and tinkering around. He would help anyone who asked, no job was too big or too small. He is survived by three sons; Mike and his wife Nedra Watt of Ashland, MT., Dan Watt of Spearfish, and Pat Watt of Lead, two daughters Cindy Dillman and (Felix) of Lead, Laurie Vrem and husband Loren of Deadwood., two sisters Caryl Fancher and her husband Archie of Safford, AZ, Beverly Bergstrom and her husband Norman of Whitewood, two brothers Robert Watt of Spearfish and Gary Watt of Plattsmouth, NE, seven grandchildren, Michelle (Miles) Dennis of Ashland, MT, Edward (Jeanette) of Ashland, MT, Jeridan and wife (Clancy) Dillman, of Belle Fourche, Joshua Mehia of Lead, Jessie Mehia, Lead, Amanda Vrem of Spearfish and Amber Vrem of Deadwood, five great grandchildren, Lance, Michael, Taylor, Kadden and Kashton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, parents Tom and Katherine (Grady) Watt, son-in-law Duane Dillman. Services will be held Friday, July 14, 2006 at the Lead-Deadwood Funeral Chapel in Lead. Inurnment will follow for both Ed and Shirley Watt in Mt. Lawn Cemetery. The Aldinger Funeral Home of Spearfish has been entrusted with the arrangements.
