WREDE LAST TUESDAY, JULY 5 Ed Wrede, 67, well known farmer living northwest of Dayton for many years, passed away suddenly at his home Saturday, July 2. Death came as the result of a heart attack. He has always been a very friendly person and everyone within miles knew and admired him for his wonderful personality and generous nature. Funeral services were held at the farm home at 2:00 o'clock and at the Trinity Lutheran Church, of which he was a long time member, at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Luke, pastor of the church, officiated. The church was filled with friends and relatives paying their sincere respects to him. Burial was made in the Dayton Cemetery. Swanson and Carson were in charge of arrangements. He leaves in the immediate family, his wife; a son, Carl; and a daughter Viola Anderson. The obituary will appear next week. Dayton Review July 21, 1949 OBITUARY Edward W. A. Wrede Edward W. A. Wrede was born near Dayton, Iowa, on August 14, 1881, the second child of William Wrede and Caroline, nee Hagenow. He was baptized in Trinity Lutheran Church, northwest of Dayton, on October 2, 1881, and confirmed there on November 22, 1896. A lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Dayton, he was active in its affairs serving for some years as treasurer of the congregation. On Decmember 15, 1910, he married Miss Caroline Gehner. The union was blessed with two surviving children, Carl, and Mrs. Allison Anderson of near Lehigh. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. Whenever a neighbor needed help in an emergency, such as a fire, he was always among the first on the scene. He departed this life from a heart attack the morning of July 2, 1949, at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 18 days. He had been in failing health for some time. He is survived by his wife and children and seven brothers and sisters: Mrs. Alvina Zeitz of Fairmount, Minn.; the Rev. H. R. Wrede of Fairmount, Minnesota; Samuel Wrede of Garner; Ssarah Wrede of Fort Dodge; William Wrede of Garner; Charles Wrede of Dayton; Mrs. Minnie Roenfranz of Ventura, Ia.; two grandchildren, Jon and Janel Anderson; and many nephews and nieces. Two sisters and an infant son preceded him in death. Funeral services were held at Trinity Lutheran Church, July 5, with the Rev. Harold H. Luke officiating. Burial was in Dayton cemetery. The church was filled to overflowing with friends and relatives, who came from Churdan, Fort Dodge, Luverne, Deer Creek, Garner, and Akron, Ohio. Memorial wreaths were given for foreign missions, the Lutheran Hour, the Lutheran Home-finding Society of Iowa, Valparaiso University, Radio Station KFUO (St. Louis), The American Bible Society, and the Organ Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church.
