Description	:	AGENCY - Edwin "Ed" Carroll Kent, 84, of Agency, died at 3:45 pm Aug. 31, 2011, at Hospice House in Ottumwa. He was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Jasper County to Charles Elmer and Agnes Kathryn Allum Kent. He married Barbara Ann Leinhauser on Oct. 12, 1946, at the home of her parents in Ottumwa. Ed attended schools in Kellogg and Tainter, graduating from Ottumwa High School in 1944. He was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Jasper County to Charles Elmer and Agnes Kathryn Allum Kent. He married Barbara Ann Leinhauser on Oct. 12, 1946, at the home of her parents in Ottumwa. Ed attended schools in Kellogg and Tainter, graduating from Ottumwa High School in 1944. He served as a MP in the U.S.Army from January 1945 to August 1946, stationed at Scoffield Barracks in Oahu, Hawaii. He worked as a tool and die maker at Hardscog Pneumatic Tool, Clausings, Lunds, Martin Machine and Alcoa. He managed Industrial Machine first on Wapello Street and then at the new location on Gateway Drive. Ed later operated Custom Machine from his home location. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; a son Joseph A.(Linda)Kent of Agency; a daughter, Ann(Dennis)Hasselman of Ottumwa; seven grandchildren, Kelly(Josh)Goudy, Kurt(Jacque)Moore, Kyle(Carrie)Moore, Brad Ewing, Andy(Beth)Ewing, Katie(Roger)Vaughn and Ashley Kent; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Clark, Roy and Wayne Kent; a sister, Doris Van Waes. His body has been cremated and no services are planned. Private inurnment will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg. Memorials may be made to Hospice House Ottumwa, Iowa. Reece Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
