Pearson, 80, of 1390 - Ninth Avenue, died at his home, at 2:50 p.m. Monday, April 4, after a long illness. He was born October 4, 1874, the son of Lafayette H. and Clara Petty Pearson, on a farm four miles northeast of Springville. His parents were early Linn county settlers. He was married twice. In 1894 he was married to Alice Blair of this county, and they had one son, Donald C. Pearson. His second marriage was on June 14, 1911, at Waterloo, to Gertrude Showalter Crabtree. Mr. Pearson operated a real estate business in Marshalltown for a number of years, before coming to Marion 28 years ago. He was active in real estate and insurance business in Marion until illness forced his retirement a few years ago. He was justice of the peace, in Marion in 1943, and 1944. He was a member of the Marion Methodist church. Surviving in addition to his wife and son, are a grand-daughter, a grandson, and two sisters, Mrs. Irene McMickle and Mrs. Olive Tower, of Los Angeles, Calif. Memorial services were conducted at the Murdoch Chapel, Marion, Thursday at 1:30 p.m., by the Rev. James P. Gable.
