Description	:	Funeral services for Edwin C. Holtan, 78, were held Saturday morning at Salem Lutheran church, Lake Mills, with the Rev. John Sime officiating. Burial was in the Winnebago Lutheran church cemetery. Mittelstadt funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Holtan died last Sunday at the Lake Mills nursing home, where he had been a resident for about two years. He was born June 13, 1894, to Thomas and Aasta Thorvilson Holtan, who lived in Mt. He was born June 13, 1894, to Thomas and Aasta Thorvilson Holtan, who lived in Mt. Valley township. He attended rural school and Waldorf college. He married Emma Haugen on Feb. 23, 1919, at Winnebago Lutheran church. The Holtans lived on a farm south of Lake Mills for five years and then moved to Alden, Minn., where they farmed for 18 years. They then returned to the Lake Mills area farm and lived there until they purchased a home in Lake Mills in 1951. Holtan is survived by his wife, Emma; a daughter, Mrs. W. J. (Eleanor) Bigelow of Albert Lea; a son, Larry Holtan of St. Paul Park, Minn.; a granddaughter; three sisters, Mrs. Mabel Fjelstad of Lake Mills, Mrs. Norman (Agnes) Brackey of Forest City and Mrs. Cliffored (Hilda) Brackey of Lake Mills; and a brother, Hans Holtan of Forest City. He was preceded in death by his parents, two children and four sisters.
