Edwin was the son of Martin and Katie (Konrady) Henrich. He was raised on the family farm three miles northwest of Le Mars. He attended Saint Joseph's School in Le Mars, Iowa. At the age of 16, his father passed away and Edwin took over the responsibilities of the family farm. Edwin was united in marriage to Arlyne Binneboese on Monday; February 8, 1937, in Le Mars, Iowa. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in February 2007. Ed was the embodiment of the self-made man. Most of what he knew, he learned through experience. Ed was innovative and willing to take risks to pursue what he valued. As a young man, he was an accomplished boxer. He loved the outdoors; especially fishing, hunting and trapshooting. Most of all, Ed will be remembered as a man of faith and fidelity, loyal to his family and friends; a man of great courage and conviction. Edwin F. Henrich, age 93, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away on Thursday; August 16, 2007 at the Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen; Plymouth County, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are: His loving wife of 70 years: Arlyne of Le Mars, Iowa. His children: a son: Vernon & his wife Phyllis Henrich of Missouri Vally; Harrison County, Iowa and their children: Michael & his wife: Andrea Henrich of Omaha; Douglas County, Nebraska and Dr. Douglas & his wife Jill Henrich of Burlington; Des Moines County, Iowa. A daughter: Christa Henrich of Winfield; DuPage County, Illinois. A daughter: Judy & her husband: Wendell Green of Yuba City; Sutter County, California and their daughter: Monica Reyna & her husband: Christopher of Yuba City, California. A son: David Henrich of Red Oak; Montgomery County, Iowa and his children: Melissa Culver and Michelle Henrich all of Red Oak, Iowa. Melanie Henrich of Omaha, Nebraska and Matthew Henrich of Boulder; Boulder County, Colorado. A son: Dennis & his wife: Barb Henrich of Le Mars and their children: Kelly & her husband: Spencer Reitzler of Williamsburg; Iowa County, Iowa. Tod & his wife: Noel Henrich of Le Mars, Iowa and Sarah Henrich of Davenport; Scott County, Iowa. Also nine great-grandchildren, several cousins and a host of friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents: Martin and Katie (Konrady) Henrich. Six brothers: Fred, John, Martin, Alvin, Leo, and Paul Henrich. Five sisters: Josephine Deiterman, Irene Kallsen, Catherine Topf, Mary Friend, and Dorothy Thorpe. Also an infant son: Douglas Henrich. May they rest in peace. Visitations will be after 2:00 p.m. followed by a 4:00 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday; August 20, 2007 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars, Iowa with Father Kevin Richter officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Expression of sympathy can be extended to the family through www.carlsenfuneralhome.com.
