Description	:	Edwin F. Banwart, age 96, of Mediapolis and formerly of West Bend, died Friday, December 2, 2016, at the Prairie Ridge Care & Rehab in Mediapolis. The son of Paul and Elizabeth Benniger Banwart, he was born on September 23, 1920 in West Bend. He graduated from West Bend High School and attended Iowa State University briefly before serving in the US Army during WW II. Edwin married Ada M. Schrock on November 19, 1950 in Oakville. Banwart, age 96, of Mediapolis and formerly of West Bend, died Friday, December 2, 2016, at the Prairie Ridge Care & Rehab in Mediapolis. The son of Paul and Elizabeth Benniger Banwart, he was born on September 23, 1920 in West Bend. He graduated from West Bend High School and attended Iowa State University briefly before serving in the US Army during WW II. Edwin married Ada M. Schrock on November 19, 1950 in Oakville. He farmed in West Bend until they moved to Mediapolis in December of 1959 where he farmed and operated Schrock Dairy, a wholesale dairy and retail bottled milk delivery service. In the 1970's he started Banwart Real Estate in Mediapolis where he was a real estate agent until he retired. Edwin was a member of the Mediapolis Apostolic Christian Church, had served on the Mediapolis Community School Board, the Area Education Agency Board, and the Swiss Valley Dairy Coop Board. In 1965 he won the State Corn Yield Contest as the Master Corngrower of Iowa. Edwin enjoyed the outdoors as an avid gardener. He also loved splitting wood from his timber. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Art, Elmer & Esther, Benjy, and Arnie; three sisters, Clara & Sam Anliker, Leona & Bill Wulf, and Miriam & Ray Frieden; a nephew, Jay Frieden; a niece, Twyla Bajema; and two brothers-in-law, Eli Metzger and Fred Metzger. Burial at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, rural Oakville.
