Description	:	DEATH OF HENRY COWAN Henry Cowan, the pioneer Rockford Valley resident, who died yesterday late morning at his home, was deputy sheriff under Allan Wheeler descesed, and was one of the best that the country ever had. He had charge of the jail and it cannot be said but that the the prisoners were accorded good treatment. No jailer ever had better control over prisoners than he, but in return he expected the same kind of treatment. Read More	DEATH OF HENRY COWAN Henry Cowan, the pioneer Rockford Valley resident, who died yesterday late morning at his home, was deputy sheriff under Allan Wheeler descesed, and was one of the best that the country ever had. He had charge of the jail and it cannot be said but that the the prisoners were accorded good treatment. No jailer ever had better control over prisoners than he, but in return he expected the same kind of treatment. In the death of Mr. Cowan, familarly known amoung the newspaper fraternity in Fort Scott as "Hank", the county lost a valuable citizen, a pioneer farmer and a good man and as honest as the day is long. Highly respected in his neighborhood and over the county generally the deceased leaves behind a host of sorrowing friends and relatives. We will miss Henry Cowan for a long time to come.
