Description	:	Edwin John Blake, son of Fredrick and Anna Elizabeth Noll Blake, was born on July 28, 1910 in Noble County, Ohio. He came to Iowa in 1930 with Earl Blake and Elmer Miller. They were on their way to South Dakota to work in the wheat fields when they were told that the wheat was burned up in the summer heat so they stayed and worked for John Crock in Mechanicsville. Read More	Edwin John Blake, son of Fredrick and Anna Elizabeth Noll Blake, was born on July 28, 1910 in Noble County, Ohio. He came to Iowa in 1930 with Earl Blake and Elmer Miller. They were on their way to South Dakota to work in the wheat fields when they were told that the wheat was burned up in the summer heat so they stayed and worked for John Crock in Mechanicsville. On February 25, 1933 Edwin was united in marriage to Hazel Reona Carr in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mechanicsville, Iowa. Edwin and Hazel farmed near Tipton in Cedar County, Iowa until he retired at the age of 75. Edwin was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mechanicsville and later transferred membership to St. Mary's in Tipton. He was a past member of Farm Bureau and the Cedar County Co-op. Edwin and his wife, Hazel, have made the Mechanicsville Nursing Home their home since August of 2000. Edwin and Hazel celebrated 74 years of marriage together on February 25. Edwin died peacefully at 9:10 pm on Tuesday from complication of pneumonia. Edwin is survived by his wife, Hazel, who lives in the Mechanicsville Nursing and Rehab Center; daughters, Mary Ellen and husband, Ronald Ford of Loveland, Colorado, Carolyn and husband, John Cook of Tipton, Iowa; Brother, Harry Blake of Baring, Washington; 7 grandchildren, James Ford, Jerald Ford, Michael Ford, Pamela Zaurba, Katherine Harms, Deborah Wendt and Kevin Cook; 13 Great Grand Children; Ethan, Daniel, Anna, Blake, Tyler, Danielle, Dalton, Courtney, Skylar, Cassandra, Christopher, Amanda and Brandon; Great-great grandson, Joshua. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Cornelius Cordle, and brother, Raymond Blake and Carlin Blake. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a general donation to the "Edwin Blake Memorial Fund".
