Read More	Highland Recorder November 10, 1905 Worthy Citizen Dead In the death of Mr. Edward L. Matheny, which occurred on Sunday night last at his home near Valley Center, the county loses one of its best citizens, and his death came as a great shock to all. He had been ill but a few days, but the disease assumed a serious form on Friday, and much of the time between that and the hour of death was passed in delirium. Mr. Matheny was a farmer of thrift and industry had just completed a large flouring mill, and, to all human appearances, had a prosperous, happy future before him. From every section of the county we hear expressions of deep regret at the loss of this good man, but in his own immediate neighborhood will this loss be most keenly felt, for there his true worth, as neighbor, friend and citizen, was more fully known and valued. He was about 40 years of age and is survived by a wife and one child. The funeral, conducted by his pastor, Rev DeWitt A. Beery at Rehoboth, was largely attended, and his remains were laid to rest in the old family bury-ground.
